## What it calculates

Cart abandonment rate is the share of started checkouts that never become orders. Multiplying abandoned checkouts by your order value shows the revenue left on the table. Recovery messages win back a share of it.

## Formula

Abandonment rate = 1 − completed ÷ started
Revenue left = (Started − completed) × AOV
Recoverable = Revenue left × recovery rate
```

- Orders completed: 900
- Average order value: USD 60
- Recovery rate: 10%
