Your supplier price is not your product cost. Add freight, customs duty, clearance and local delivery to see what each unit costs when it reaches your shelf.

## What it calculates

Landed cost is the full cost of a unit once it is in your warehouse. Freight and fees are spread over the units in the shipment. Customs duty is charged either on the goods alone (FOB) or on goods plus freight (CIF), depending on the country. The calculator also works backwards to the highest supplier price that still leaves your target margin.

## Formula

```
Freight per unit = Freight ÷ units
Duty per unit = (Supplier price + freight per unit) × duty %   (CIF)
             = Supplier price × duty %                        (FOB)
Landed = Supplier price + freight + duty + clearance + local delivery (per unit)
Max supplier price = (Price × (1 − fee % − target) − freight × (1 + duty if CIF)
                     − clearance − local) ÷ (1 + duty %)
```

## Worked example

Inputs:
- Supplier price per unit: USD 12
- Units in the shipment: 500
- Freight for the shipment: USD 1,500
- Customs duty: 10%
- Duty charged on: Goods + freight (CIF)
- Clearance and fees: USD 300
- Local delivery to warehouse: USD 250
- Selling price: USD 45
- Payment fee: 2.9%
- Target contribution: 30%

Results:
- Landed cost per unit: USD 17.60
- Added on top of supplier price: 46.7%
- Duty per unit: USD 1.50
- Freight per unit: USD 3
- Max supplier price for your target: USD 23.45

## What changes the result

Freight for the shipment at five values; every other input as in the example.

| Freight for the shipment | Landed cost per unit | Max supplier price for your target |
| --- | --- | --- |
| USD 750 | USD 15.95 | USD 24.95 |
| USD 1,125 | USD 16.78 | USD 24.20 |
| USD 1,500 (example) | USD 17.60 | USD 23.45 |
| USD 1,875 | USD 18.43 | USD 22.70 |
| USD 2,250 | USD 19.25 | USD 21.95 |

## How to read the result

Use landed cost, not supplier price, as your product cost everywhere else: margin, pricing and ROAS.
Import load shows how much the trip adds on top of the supplier price. A small shipment spreads fixed freight and fees over fewer units.
Take the max supplier price into negotiations as your ceiling.

## Questions

**What is included in landed cost?**
Supplier price, international freight, insurance, customs duty, clearance and broker fees, and delivery to your warehouse. Anything you pay before the unit can be sold.

**What is the difference between CIF and FOB duty?**
Under FOB, duty is charged on the value of the goods. Under CIF, it is charged on goods plus freight and insurance, so the same rate costs more. Check which one your country uses.

**Should I use landed cost as my COGS?**
Yes. Using the supplier price alone makes every margin and ROAS target look better than it is.

**Do you store what I enter?**
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to Analify.

## Use your real numbers

Analify reads selling prices from Shopify and uses the product cost (COGS) you save for each product in every profit number, so a corrected landed cost flows into Blended Profit and margin.
