COGS
COGS (cost of goods sold) is the direct cost of the products sold in a period — what you paid for the goods, and usually what it took to get them into sellable stock.
Formula
COGS = Units sold × Cost per unit
Example
200 units sold × $20 cost per unit = $4,000 COGS.
In Analify
Product costs live in your Business Brain. You can set them in Analify or from Claude and other clients through the Analify MCP’s product cost tools; Analify flags products with missing costs.
Questions
What happens if product costs are missing?
Profit looks better than it is. Analify shows which products are missing costs so the number isn’t trusted blindly.
COGS vs landed cost?
Landed cost is the full cost to get a unit into stock — product, freight, duties. It’s often the right per-unit cost to use in COGS.
