Ecommerce glossary
Return rate
Return rate is the percentage of delivered orders (or units) that customers send back. State whether you count orders, units or value, and keep it consistent.
Formula
Return rate = Returned orders ÷ Delivered orders × 100
Example
18 returned ÷ 200 delivered orders = 9% return rate.
In Analify
Analify shows return rate by product, variant, region and campaign from Shopify and Bosta data, and subtracts returns in Blended Profit.
Questions
Return rate vs RTO?
A return happens after delivery. RTO (return to origin) is a shipment that never gets delivered.
How do I reduce returns?
Find where they come from — one product, size, region or campaign — and fix that cause first.
