How to check COD profit and RTO for Shopify stores using Bosta

Connect Shopify and Bosta to Analify, match orders with delivery outcomes, then compare expected COD cash with what Bosta collected and remitted. Add product costs, shipping, returns and available ad spend to check profit after RTO. RTO means a shipment was never delivered and came back to you. Bosta is the only supported courier today.

Before you start

  • An Analify account, your Shopify store and your Bosta account.
  • Permission to connect accounts and access Finance; Finance is available to owners, admins and the Finance Manager role.
  • Product costs, Bosta shipping and return charges, and ad spend for the period if you want profit after advertising.
  • A shipment period to review, with delivered, returned and still-pending orders kept separate.

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Connect Shopify and Bosta

In Analify, open Settings → Integrations and connect Shopify and Bosta. Check that order and delivery data cover the period you need. Connect Meta or TikTok too if you want their spend included in profit.

  2. Step 2

    Separate delivered orders from RTO

Ask the Analify Agent to match Shopify orders with Bosta delivery states. Request delivered, returned-to-origin and still-pending shipments separately, with unmatched orders flagged. Review Returns for delivery outcomes and return patterns. RTO rate = Shipments returned to origin ÷ Shipments sent × 100; pending shipments can still change the result.

  3. Step 3

Compare expected, collected and remitted cash

In Finance, review COD analysis and Cash collection. Compare COD amounts due on delivered orders with Bosta's reported collections, then check how much was remitted and what remains pending or overdue. Ask the Agent to show settlement dates and fees where available. Expected settlements are not money already received.

  4. Step 4

Add costs and calculate profit after RTO

Use Product costs in Finance to enter or sync variant costs and check gaps. Ask the Agent for revenue after failed deliveries, minus available ad spend, shipping, COGS and return costs. Request outbound and return charges separately so they are counted once. Explain whether returned stock is resellable; do not treat every RTO as a full product write-off.

  5. Step 5

    Check an illustrative example

Illustrative example — not customer results: 100 COD shipments at EGP 1,000 each finish with 80 delivered and 20 RTO, so RTO is 20%. Delivered revenue and expected COD cash are EGP 80,000. Bosta reports EGP 80,000 collected and EGP 65,000 remitted, leaving EGP 15,000 outstanding, assuming no fee deductions in these cash figures. With EGP 32,000 COGS for delivered goods, EGP 10,000 ads, EGP 5,000 outbound shipping and EGP 2,000 separate RTO charges, profit is 80,000 − 32,000 − 10,000 − 5,000 − 2,000 = EGP 31,000. The returned stock is assumed resellable. Outstanding cash is not another profit deduction.

  6. Step 6

Investigate the orders behind the gap

Ask the Agent which products or regions have the most RTO and which settlements need follow-up. Inspect the affected orders and available evidence. If you request a supported shipment change, review its approval card before approving it in the app.

Try these questions

  • “Match last month's Shopify COD orders to Bosta outcomes. Separate delivered, RTO, pending and unmatched shipments.”
  • “For delivered COD orders, compare expected cash with Bosta collections and remittances. Show fees, outstanding amounts and overdue settlements separately.”
  • “Calculate profit after RTO for this shipment group. Show revenue, COGS, outbound shipping, return charges and available ad spend without double-counting.”
  • “Which products and regions have the highest RTO? Show shipment counts and flag groups that are still pending.”

Good to know

  • Bosta is the only supported courier today.
  • RTO happens before successful delivery. A customer return after delivery is a different outcome.
  • Delivery and settlement data can arrive at different times. Keep pending shipments and expected settlements visible.
  • Courier-held cash is different from profit. Reconcile fees and remittances before treating an outstanding balance as missing money.
  • Profit needs complete costs. Without connected or recorded ad spend, the result is not profit after advertising.
  • Analify records and analyzes money; it does not move funds. Supported actions in the app require approval.

Questions

What is COD reconciliation?

It matches delivered cash-on-delivery orders with the cash Bosta collected and remitted. Cash due on delivered orders minus remitted cash gives the outstanding amount; inspect fees and settlement timing to explain the balance.

Does an RTO order count as collected revenue?

No COD cash was collected from the customer if the shipment was never delivered. It can still cost outbound shipping, return charges and the advertising that brought the order. Check stock condition before deciding whether product cost is a loss.

Can I compare Bosta with another courier?

Bosta is the only supported courier today. This guide does not assume connections to other couriers.

Is outstanding COD cash lost profit?

Not automatically. It may be collected cash awaiting settlement, a fee deduction or a discrepancy to investigate. Keep the profit calculation separate from cash received.

Can I do this from Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. Use the unified Analify MCP endpoint https://analify.scalyax.ai/api/mcp/analify after connecting Shopify and Bosta. The unified connection can check an order in Shopify and its Bosta delivery state in one conversation. Bosta cash-cycle tools also help investigate settlement lag.
