What it calculates

Landed cost is the full cost of a unit once it is in your warehouse. Freight and fees are spread over the units in the shipment. Customs duty is charged either on the goods alone (FOB) or on goods plus freight (CIF), depending on the country. The calculator also works backwards to the highest supplier price that still leaves your target margin.

How to read the result

Use landed cost, not supplier price, as your product cost everywhere else: margin, pricing and ROAS. Import load shows how much the trip adds on top of the supplier price. A small shipment spreads fixed freight and fees over fewer units. Take the max supplier price into negotiations as your ceiling.

The formula

Freight per unit = Freight ÷ units
Duty per unit = (Supplier price + freight per unit) × duty % (CIF)
             = Supplier price × duty % (FOB)
Landed = Supplier price + freight + duty + clearance + local delivery (per unit)
Max supplier price = (Price × (1 − fee % − target) − freight × (1 + duty if CIF)
                     − clearance − local) ÷ (1 + duty %)

Questions

What is included in landed cost?

Supplier price, international freight, insurance, customs duty, clearance and broker fees, and delivery to your warehouse. Anything you pay before the unit can be sold.

What is the difference between CIF and FOB duty?

Under FOB, duty is charged on the value of the goods. Under CIF, it is charged on goods plus freight and insurance, so the same rate costs more. Check which one your country uses.

Should I use landed cost as my COGS?

Yes. Using the supplier price alone makes every margin and ROAS target look better than it is.

Do you store what I enter?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to Analify.
